Magnets

Magnet Stations
Set up stations to determine if the object is magnetic or not magnetic.  Give the students a recording sheet and a magnet to make their own discoveries!

Antonyms

Antonym Flip Book
Use your own clipart and create an antonym flip book.


Antonym Elephants
We created "big and little" elephants using our handprints.




Earth Day

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
We reused our milk cartons and planted sunflower seeds.


Earth's Natural Recyclers
We talked about worms and how they are Earth's natural recyclers.

Plants

Parts of a Plant
a TLC art type activity to show the parts of a plant
Sing Dr. Jean's "Parts of a Flower" song. (Can be found on
the "Kiss Your Brain" CD.)


The Surprise Garden
We read the book, "The Surprise Garden" by Zoe Hall. Then we sorted our seeds on the pocket chart and glued them on a sorting graph.


Tops and Bottoms

We read the book, "Tops and Bottoms" by Janet Stevens and sorted picture cards from story by tops or bottoms.  Then we did a writing activity about our favorite plant to eat.


Roots
We read the book, "Roots" by Vijaya K. Bodach. Then we did a science experiment to show how roots help plants.

 
Jack and the Beanstalk

After reading several versions of "Jack and the Beanstalk" we sprouted and planted our own popcorn seeds.
